Job Summary:
The Sous Chef, in tandem with the Executive Chef, will be responsible for managing all culinary aspects of the food catering operation that operates from our commissary kitchen in Chicago, Kitchfix is fueling professional athletes around the country! Known as the “Best in the Bigs”, Kitchfix helps athletes perform their best with delicious, nutritious food and best in class hospitality. Kitchfix, based in Chicago, is a boutique food service company comprised of contract dining operations in Florida, Texas, and Arizona, as well as a leading meal delivery service and catering operations in Chicago.IL. This will include daily kitchen operation management, hands-on supervision of kitchen staff, training and development, and enforcement of standards. The Sous Chef assumes full responsibility for the operation in absence of the Executive Chef. This role must deliver a high standard of service that meets and exceeds the expectations of our catering clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Management-
- Assist the Executive Chef with kitchen operation, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction, through planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the Kitchen operation and administration
- Exhibit culinary talents by personally performing tasks while assisting in leading the staff and managing all food related functions
- Write weekly service schedules and prep lists
- Order & receive food, packaging, and supplies
- Manage COGS from a food and labor cost perspective
- Be comfortable serving food rooted in the styles of the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico
- Promote and exemplify a culture that is rooted in positivity
Safety & Sanitation-
- Oversee food safety & handling procedures within the kitchen & dining
- Hold a high standard for clean and safe workspaces for all employees
- Ensure accurate allergen labeling when appropriate
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a professional busy kitchen
- Previous catering experience
- Degree in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Science, or related field
- Demonstrated success managing and working with a diverse team
- ServSafe food handler certification and allergen certification
- Strong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building meals with lots of flavor
- Experience ordering and receiving food from local vendors
- Confidence in working with clients who have food sensitivities and allergies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel and Word)
- Sports-based culinary nutrition experience with collegiate or professional athletes preferred
- Spanish language fluency a plus

- Ability to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
