Chocolat Uzma is looking for a full time pastry chef
Located in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Chocolat Uzma combines South-Asian heritage with French culinary training to create unique confections, pastries, and chocolate.
Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for an experiened and moivated person to join our team. Someone who is positive, creative, motivated and a self starter. Duties will include but not limited to:
- Managing pastry and chocolate production.
- Production and preparation of all cookies, cakes, ice cream and pastries.
- R&D creation of new and seasonal pastry products.
- Assisting chef in chocolate and confection production.
- Creating new and seasonal chocolate and confections.
- Assisting retail staff and working retail when needed.
- Reviews and completes production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods made and assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily production and retail activities.
- Cleans and maintains work areas, utensils, equipment observing all safety and sanitation protocol including food supplies
- May be required to prepare items for special diets.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned with high sense of urgency and accuracy.
Job Requirements
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited culinary or pastry institution and 5 years or more of experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports as well as inventory management.
- Knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
- Must be capable of handling objects up to 25 pounds, as well as standing and/or walking for more than 8 hours per day.
