Job Details

Aska is seeking a General Manager to grow with the company as we continue our sixth successful year in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The General Manager is responsible for the planning and direction of all restaurant operations while leading the successful business performance of the restaurant. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, implementing and maintaining all company policies and procedures, standards, staff training, and training materials.
  • Work with members of management in all aspects of hiring, coaching, and overall development of the team to create a positive, productive, and professional work environment.
  • Maintain guest satisfaction by consistently offering professional, warm and elevated service of the highest standard; guiding and motivating the team in creating an exceptional guest experience.
  • Forecast and monitor weekly sales, scheduling - adjusting according to financial objectives
  • Collaborate regularly with ownership/management to develop strategies to manage restaurant financials, including F&B and labor costs.
  • Daily walk-throughs and checklists to ensure proper setup, breakdown, and overall care and cleanliness of facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy facility by following and enforcing NYC sanitation standards and procedures, complying with the Department of Health and other regulations.
  • Support ownership in setting and meeting operating goals and objectives according to the restaurant's mission and strategy.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Exhibits an appreciation for and knowledge of Scandinavian culture and cuisine, including the connection between Sweden and New York that Aska represents.
  • Proficient in all aspects of fine dining service, with Michelin-starred level restaurant experience.
  • Effective style of management; promotes a professional atmosphere; inspires staff to achieve their potential and consistently strive for the highest standards in hospitality. 
  • Impeccable communication, organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Advanced understanding of city, state and federal regulations pertaining to hospitality business.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, InDesign, Gmail, and all Google platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of Point of Service system (Breadcrumb) and Reservations system (Tock).

Salary will be based on experience and skillset.

Berselius that features a signature tasting menu in an intimate yet spacious, ten-table dining room in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
