The J Parker, located in the Hotel Lincoln, is seeking a beverage porter/bar prep captian to join our team. This position facilitates the smooth service of the bar by assisting and supporting bartenders and servers to ensure prompt service and satisfied guests.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for completing tasks related to stocking, replenishing, and cleaning the bar area
• Receiving product deliveries, properly checking items delivered are correct, refusing product that is incorrect or broken
• Adhere to processes and procedures related to the processing of invoices
• Communicate any delivery errors or issues with Beverage Director and/or other involved stakeholders
• Prepare syrups, batches, sliced fruits, and other items need for hotel's beverage department; following recipes diligently to ensure consistency
• Uphold safe food handling guidelines set forth by the Chicago Department of Public Health
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bar area including tables, chairs, floors, and walkways
• Wash and polish glasses and other serving equipment
• Communicate with bartenders and wait staff to ensure and maintain guest satisfaction

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in a similar setting preferred
• Previous customer service experience strongly preferred
• Organized and attention to detail required
• Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with guests and coworkers
• Ability to lift more than 50 pounds frequently and stand for long periods of time
• Knowledge of wine and liquor preferred
• Basic knife skills preferred, previous kitchen experience a plus
