Union Square Events is looking for a Director of Operations to join their growing team!

Founded in 2005 as Hudson Yards Catering, Union Square Events is a culinary and operations leader in the hospitality industry, partnering with a diverse portfolio of best-in-class clients. We produce one-of-a-kind catered events and unparalleled dining experiences in a variety of cultural, corporate, entertainment, and private venues throughout New York City and beyond. 

Who you are: The primary objective of the USE Director of Operations “DO” is to lead, manage, and oversee the operations for Union Square Events (USE) at our "Business and Industry" (B&I) partners! The position is responsible for overall financial results, as well as the execution of total revenue, and people strategies, within USE's business and industry partnerships. The Director should strengthen the continued success through further investment in strategies for recruiting to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of candidates hired to the team. The DO will partner with the VP of Operations for USE to continue the quality, strength, and excellence of the operations. The DO will be an expert in fostering collaboration with the Hotel partnership and support in development and growth of the USE team!

What you’ll do:

  • Establish and execute clear profitability and performance goals and metrics for USE's partnerships
  • Ensure USE partnerships are strong and compelling to all stakeholders, specifically employees (HR)
  • Continue to redefine and establish peerless SOPs as it relates to ALL operations
  • Establishes plans, communicates strategy, and measures specific financial goals to achieve sustained increases in restaurant sales and profitability
  • Guarantee rigorous knowledge of and adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures
  • Hires and develops a high-performance team of business leaders in alignment with our Diversity and Inclusion goals who exemplify our company's values
  • Continuously build a high-performance team across all USE brands to deliver uncommon hospitality and excellence to their guests

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters degree or comparable experience
  • 10+ years of leadership experience with at least 5 years in management positions
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating and communicating across all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing breakthrough ideas
  • Wine, Beer, and Spirits knowledge
  • Sound understanding of diverse cuisine and beverage
  • Strong understanding of Service and Operations as it pertains to Catering, banquet management, Hotel, and large scale event 
  • Solid understanding of off-premise event logistics and requirements
  • 7+ Years of Warehouse Management experience
  • 5+ Years Catering Management
  • Previous Management experience in large scale, fast-paced environments

  • Vision: USHG offers a supplemental vision insurance program. The in-network plan includes an annual eye exam and a pair of glasses or set of contacts.
  • Transit Program: All employees are eligible to elect to set aside pre-tax dollars each month toward the cost of commuting. You may choose up to the Federal Allowed maximum per month and these elections are deducted pre-tax. As a result you will pay less in taxes each year.
  • 401(k) Plan: USHG offers a voluntary retirement investment plan that allows you to defer a portion of your income and use pre-tax dollars to save for your retirement. All employees who are 21 years of age or older may elect to participate after 12 months of continuous employment.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: All employees who have completed 12 months of continuous, full-time employment may elect to set up Flexible Spending Accounts in January of each year. Flexible Spending Accounts allow employees to defer pre-tax income to pay for certain eligible expenses including health care costs not covered by health insurance, transportation to work, and qualified child care expenses. Flexible Spending allows you to increase the income you take home by reducing the amount of taxes you pay for qualified expenses.
  • Direct Deposit: We offer direct deposit of paychecks to your financial institution at no cost to you. You may sign up for direct deposit at any time.
  • Corporate Discount Programs: As a USHG employee, you can get a discounted rate at area gyms and massage services. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to stay healthy and strong!
  • Employee Dining Program: Through this program, we hope to make dining in our restaurants a reality for all our employees. The program starts out as a discount program and adds Dining Dollars over time.
