The Bowery Group is seeking a sous chef for its Mexican restaurant, Rosie’s. Ideally, candidates should have an understanding of Mexican food either by living and working in Mexico, or by virtue of having grown up in a Mexican household with strong ties to a particular region of Mexico, or at least three years experience working in a Mexican restaurant.
Candidates should have prior experience in a managerial role where leadership skills were expected. The applicant should be an individual with good communication skills with an understanding that this is a critical key in helping to create a composed, friendly and hospitable working atmosphere.
Core Responsibilities:
- assist the chef in all aspects of managing the kitchen
- knowledge of Board of Health protocols, maintaining all food safety standards
- prior experience with scheduling and how that determines labor costs
- maintain food quality and consistency during service; maintain food storage storage standards
- develop a strong working relationship with all BOH members with the intent of building teamwork
- expedite meal services/know the menu for all meal services
- oversee kitchen hygiene and equipment maintenance standards
- understanding of Mexican ingredients
About You:
- 1-2 years in a sous chef position
- experience in cooking Mexican food in a restaurant setting
- open scheduling availability
