Key Responsibilities
Bartenders are responsible for ensuring guests have a positive experience by exhibiting unsurpassed hospitality. Duties and tasks include:
- Plan, organize, and control the operations of an indoor or outdoor bar
- Present menus to guests and explain how various menu items are prepared by describing ingredients and cooking methods (make recommendations upon request).
- Take guests’ food and beverage orders and enter orders into POS.
- Take beverage orders from serving staff.
- Confirm minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
- Check-in with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take corrective action if any issues arise.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and collect payment.
- Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
- Perform cleaning duties, such as tidying bar area and equipment.
- Provide guests with information about the Seaport, including giving directions.
Desired Skills & Experience
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in a premium fine dining restaurant
- Desire and dedication to offer impeccable dining service
- Organization and multi-tasking skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Enthusiastic and outgoing demeanor
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to recognize guests’ excessive drinking and can take the necessary steps to limit any problems or liabilities associated with their intoxication.
- Ability to work as a team player
- Knowledge of Toast POS, or other point of sale system
- Stamina to stand for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs
- Physical ability to lift trays of food, glasses and other objects that might be a part of daily duties.
