We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Banquet Manager at the Marriott Mission Valley Hotel.  As Banquet Manager you would lead the team in hosting corporate meetings, intimate gatherings, and extraordinary weddings in our event space.  

The Banquet Manager supervises, coordinates, and participates in activities of the banquet department, directing, training, and supervising all banquet team members.  They execute all event orders and ensure the set up of all function rooms and ballrooms for banquets, meetings, and other social functions. This role is responsible for the coordination of food and beverage for events held in the hotel. The Banquet Manager works closely with the Director of Food & Beverage, Catering Manager, and Head Chef to ensure events run smoothly and clients' needs are met.

  • Oversee service operations to ensure guests have the ultimate experience, enabling the brand to shine and your department to beat financial goals.
  • Be responsible for a full range of planning and department daily operations, including budget oversight. Provide input to enhance processes that heighten the guest experience and improve financial results.
  • Interpret Banquet Event Orders to ensure event details, staffing and menus are clearly communicated and orchestrated to delight guests.
  • Keep a pulse on daily Banquet operations, resolving issues quickly for guest and associate safety, leading to an ideal guest experience.
  • Create an environment that’s engaging, where motivated people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance. Lead a diverse team by modeling the way, empowering, and coaching throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and available for all shifts.
  • Ability to work autonomously and sell effectively
  • Outstanding people skills, trustworthy and results-driven
  • Must be available nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Knowledge of beer, wine & spirits

Fundamentals

Bachelor's degree in Hospitality is preferred or a minimum of two years of post-high school education, with two to three years in a related position. Advanced knowledge of catering, food and beverage, and the hospitality profession is required. Effective verbal and written English communication skills are required, with a second language helpful.
