Varga Bar, a gastro pub located in the Washington Square West is seeking an Executive Chef to lead the team and work with our dedicated BOH staff.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced and ambitious individual. The ideal candidate must understand and be able to work the schedule of a professional chef which includes nights, weekends and holidays.
The ideal candidate will have 2 years as a Sous Chef or above, experience running a high-volume kitchen and no ego. A positive attitude and an ability to handle high pressure situations is a must. We are looking for someone who is accepting of feedback to help them grow, and will work well in a true team environment.
We are requiring all of our staff to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to keep ourselves as well as our guests safe and happy.
Responsibilities include:
Hiring, training, managing and developing the kitchen team.
Menu and recipe development. We pride ourselves on our creativity and quality ingredients and work with our team to continuously evolve our menu.
Managing of labor, food cost and sanitation practices
Execution of best practices in the kitchen
