Marlow Events is a full-service catering company from The Marlow Collective. We are seeking a captain to lead events across New York City, including at our events space in Red Hook, Brooklyn. This is a part time position with an opportunity for considerable growth.

Captains are responsible for managing the full scope of an event. Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Direct event staff throughout the course of the event, from set up through break down
- Keep the event on pace with the timeline
- Communicate with the kitchen and serve as an expeditor
- Act as the on site contact for the day-of coordinator, florist, DJ, and any other vendors
- Keep track of staff hours
- Open/shut down the space
- Mitigate any issues with staff or guests
- Provide feedback to the sales and operations team with an eye towards constant improvement and expansion of capabilities
- Lead with compassion and integrity
Relevant knowledge, skills, and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in the service industry; experience as a manager or lead server is a plus.
- Experience working in events, especially weddings
- Experience leading a team
- Comfortable wearing many hats, and juggling many roles at once
- Eye for detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff
- Ability to work on your feet for 8+ hours at a time, and lift up to 50 lbs.
