Restaurant Description
Join the Pursuit Wine Bar and Kitchen Team, recipients of the 2020 Best DC Wine Bar and Best DC Wine List. We focus on New American cuisine with an Italian/French influence paired with fabulous niche wines along with top-shelf cocktails, beer, and ciders.

We have been open in our new space on H St. since 2019 showcasing 90+ seats, a large outdoor seating area, and an enticing indoor/outdoor bar. The menu is approachable, refined, and often changing to keep customers guessing.

The Position
We are looking for a high-energy, organized, and creative general manager. Our ideal candidate loves Wine and wants to help us elevate The Pursuit Wine Bar in both wine selection, cocktails, food, and overall ambiance and aesthetics. We want every customer’s experience to be memorable in a way that they can’t wait to return.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
General
• Manage day-to-day operations of the entire bar and restaurant working with the Owners
• Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by facilitating positive and safe work behaviors
• Maintain a fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and ensure products meet quality standards
• Maintain a zero-tolerance policy on serving underage patrons, drinking OTJ, and over-serving customers
• Maintain strong inventory controls overall alcohol on-premise; including tracking leakage/losses
• Assign responsibilities and cleaning schedules; ensure the restaurant is pristine
• Ensures the restaurant is maintained with regards to facility, equipment, and grounds
• Estimate food, alcohol, and general supply needs oversee and/or execute the placement of all orders
• A solid mastery of all roles within the bar and the ability to augment when staffing is limited

Creative
• Develop and elevate the wine/cocktail menu based on seasonal trends, recent events, and holidays
• Drive improvements to the ambiance, experience, and bar design/aesthetics
• Work with the Chefs/Cooks on menu development
• Work with Chefs/Cooks to determine how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays
• Work with bartenders and other staff on the development of unique, fun, and unexpected Cocktails
• Manage and coordinate with distributors to schedule tastings of Wine, Beer, Cider, and other supplies
• Participate in the selection of Wine, Beer, Cider, and other associated supplies
• Develop, design, and refine customers Menus (Physical / QR-Code)
• Support website development updates and refresh as required

Employee Management
• Reviews staffing levels to ensure that customer service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met
• Hire, train, supervise, and motivate staff
• Make sure employees are operating with a focus on safety and cleanliness
• Discipline, and counsel out employees when necessary
• Scheduling the front of house and back of the house (temporary)
• Organize and lead staff meetings

Compliance
• Ensures that the Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, as well as the company safety and security policies are being adhered to
• Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Ensures employees maintain required food handling and sanitation certifications

Qualifications
• College degree preferred
• DC ABRA Manager and DC Food Managers Certification

Experience
• 2 years in a similar role or 3 years of management experience

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($70,000.00 - $90,000.00)
