Help Share the Sweetness of Mexico as a Kitchen Manager at La Newyorkina

As
 Kitchen Manager you will work closely with the La Newyorkina leadership team and kitchen staff to maintain the highest quality and standards in the daily operations of our products for retail, wholesale, and food service outlets. Ensure all pars are met in the prep kitchen and oversee the execution of production,  storage, and product for our sales channels. This position also has an active role in working hand in hand, managing, and developing with the kitchen staff, sales manager, assistant operation manager and James Beard nominated chef/owner Fany Gerson. The Kitchen Manager will be in charge of holding the BOH team accountable to consistent feedback and career development through their performance objectives.  This is a hands-on position, so you will be working in the kitchen helping with production. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Ensure high performance and maintain excellence & hospitality throughout each day’s specific service periods.  
  • Ensure consistent and timely production and procedures of novelty items, by directing the team and effectively expediting service.  
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the staff at all times  
  • Ensure that all recipes, product, food preparations and food execution meet Chefs specifications and commitment to premium quality products. To the highest degree possible, ensure that kitchen is kept clean, safe and up to all “A” level health code standards.  
  • Ensure all team members are appropriately trained to execute their production station, partnering with the Chef/Owner and Operations Manager team to make sure that all new hires are adequately trained before beginning their new role  
  • Rotate positions so everyone is trained in different positions
  • Provides feedback and guidance with excellence and hospitality in mind, ensuring that all team members have a pathway for growth and development 
  • Consistently looks for internal and external opportunities to build our growing team 

What we need from you: 

  • 2+ years of experience in culinary leadership in pastry or a similar environment
  • Certification in Hospitality-related field (preferred), or equivalent in experience 
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating and communicating across teams 
  • Excellent food & beverage knowledge 
  • Able to lift at least 50lb
  • Willingness to be a hands-on proactive part of the team, helping with daily work and tasks
  • English fluency and Spanish strongly preferred
