Imperfecto, the restaurant by the team behind Seven Reasons, is looking for a passionate, Restaurant Manager/Sommelier to join our team.

The restaurant is located in DC's West End and features a fusion of Mediterranean and Latin American cuisines.
 
About Imperfecto

Imperfecto is the second restaurant of Enrique Limardo & Ezequiel Vázquez-Ger. Imperfecto's Chef's Table Degustation experience earned its first Michelin star in 2022.

As a member of the management team, the Imperfecto Restaurant manager is a highly visible role and a key support for enlivening the vision and direction of Owners, Chef and General Manager. This position reports to the Imperfecto General Manager.

The Imperfecto Restaurant Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager in overseeing and directing Imperfecto front of house, including hosts, servers, bartenders, bussers, and food runners.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for all functions of administration and planning for Imperfecto to meet the daily needs of the operation.
  • Maximize food and beverage department profitability; implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitor the restaurants’ budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
  • Monitor, develop and implement schedules for the operation of Imperfecto to achieve a profitable result.
  • Hire, train, supervise, develop, discipline, counsel, and evaluate restaurant servers, host, bussers, and runners.
  • Motivate and develop associates for future advancement.
  • Consistently train associates on newest product and service knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures relating to the restaurant, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations; maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of all work and service areas.
  • Control usage of all food and beverage items and appropriate usage of equipment, tools and service equipment.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items offered, including ingredients, methods of preparation and proper service.  Expert knowledge of wine and spirits.
  • Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant/bar/lobby; make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
  • Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, executive meetings, colleague meetings, etc.
  • Utilize traditional software programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and/or Outlook.
  • Develop proficiency working with Upserve and Tock. 
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire colleagues to meet and exceed standards.
  • Demonstrate high degree of drive and initiative.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all associates.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by fostering a harmonious work environment.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure a supporting team of professionals.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years in fine dining restaurant management preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of restaurant operations including food, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Considerable skill in math equations using percentages.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.


Interaction

  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and colleagues, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.


Work Environment

  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to navigate varied floor surfaces.
