Job Details

Violet Los Angeles, a California-French bistro, cooking school and shop in Westwood Village, is seeking a School Assistant for Violet Cooking School.

Our ideal candidate has a passion for all things food and beverage, thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and takes joy in creating memorable guest experiences. 

Responsibilities Include

  • Work with the Director of the Cooking to School and Sous Chef to coordinate all details related to the Cooking School, including private events and Shop
  • Help coordinate classes: prep ingredients, prepare dining table, prepare recipe packets, etc. 
  • Prepare meal for Cooking School guests during each class
  • Help maintain par stocks of inventory in the Shop
  • Identify industry trends and chefs to teach courses
  • Work in an efficient and organized manner
  • Maintain hygiene and safety standards in accordance with the health department and restaurant 
  • Must maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Must have patience and maintain a calm demeanor at all times
Requirements
  • Proficient in English
  • 1+ year experience in a professional kitchen or catering
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
  • Familiar with the industry’s best practices
