SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Porters are responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the properties of the hospitality group by washing pots and pans, keeping the kitchen and dining room areas clean, and ensuring adherence to proper sanitation standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glasses, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.
- Sort and stack clean dishes, carry clean dishes to cooks’ line and other proper storage areas, rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
- Wash pots, pans and trays by hand.
- Remove trash and garbage to dumpsters.
- Take trash and recycling to curb on pick up days.
- Set up or break down dishwashing area.
- Break down, clean, sanitize and rebuild cooking equipment.
- Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
- Sweep/mop floors in kitchen and dining room as needed .
- Sweep/mop floors in egress passageways, hallways, and common areas as needed.
- Sweep and mop floors of stores and other properties.
- Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
- Clean and sanitize staff areas.
- Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time and work in a wet, confined area with elevated temperatures.
- Be prepared for continuous bending, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms.
- Be able to stay calm under pressure.
- Transfers materials by cart between properties as required.
- Receive deliveries and store properly.
- Identify ordering needs and communicate them to management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
- Ability to multitask but remain organized.
- Must have strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills..
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
- Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds and cases of water and wine.
