* The Restaurant:
As a Restaurant General Manager, you will be working closely with Chef-Owner Eric Ziebold, one of the most recognized name in the restaurant industry in Washington D.C., and his team. Opened since 2015, Kinship has been consistently awarded a One Michelin star rating since the arrival of the guide in D.C. and holds a three star rating from the Washington Post. Metier, opened in 2016, holds a Michelin star as well and a four star rating from the Washington Post. Both restaurants are located in an historic building dating back to 1907 in the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood, steps away from the Convention Center and the National Portrait Gallery.

* The Role:
You will be collaborating directly with the Chef-Owner to lead both restaurants in a manner that embraces the philosophy and standards set forth, ensuring the highest level of hospitality for our guests while inspiring our staff to pursue professional excellence in the daily tasks revolving around restaurant operations. The Restaurant General Manager will strive to grow the restaurants and maintain the restaurants’ image, manage the dining room staff by constantly improving our service, focusing on guest relations and providing unparalleled hospitality. The General Manager will also be in charge of spearheading and managing the beverage program for the restaurants, including wine cellar and spirit selection.
You will be proactive, forward thinking with excellent communication and organizational skills. You will have a solid history of achieving financial and service targets, background in beverage selection management and experience of managing a team positively. You need to love food, have a sommelier’s level of wine knowledge and be passionate about restaurant life. You need to enjoy time spent on the floor, enforcing service standards and interacting with guests and staff.

* The Skills:

  • Current/previous experience working as a Restaurant Manager.
  • Current/previous experience managing the beverage program of a restaurant that has a strong focus on wine.
  • Ability to oversee dinner service and ensuring standards of service are adhered to.
    •Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work on your own initiative, calmly and when under pressure.
    •Excellent guest service skills with a background of exceeding and maintaining the guests' expectations.
    •Responsible for ensuring training and development of the team.
    •High stamina and flexibility with schedule. This position requires the ability to stand long hours at a time and work the floor of the restaurant. Some holidays are required.

Acclaimed Washington D.C. and James Beard Award Winner Chef Eric Ziebold has opened two new restaurants since December 2015. Designed by Darryl Carter, Kinship, is located on the first floor of 1015 Seventh Street NW in an historic building dating back to 1907. A second restaurant, Metier, offers an intimate dining experience with 11 tables and partial views of the kitchen focusing around a tasting menu experience.
Both restaurants commit themselves to offer creative and contemporary American cuisine with a continued dedication to hospitality.
Kinship is Chef Ziebold’s vision of what the modern American restaurant can be and will offer an à la carte menu celebrating the rich diversity of influences that have come to shape American cuisine. Kinship offers 66 seats and a 15 seat bar. Métier offers a bit more formality and a dining room seating only 36 guests.
