We are currently seeking full time Sommeliers to join our team!

Position Summary:

The Sommelier is responsible for the management of the wine and beverage program.  The sommelier will partner with the Restaurant Director and support operational activities and ensure high quality of service. 

 Primary responsibilities and duties

  • Manage all aspects of the restaurant wine and beverage program, inclusive of ordering, inventory, organization and cost management;
  • Greet and welcome guests in a professional manner and positive attitude
  • Work the floor and take the lead in growing wine/beverage sales in the restaurant and develop strong guest relationships
  • Actively engage in service and lead with a hands-on approach.
  • Coordinate restaurant front of house actions, being responsible for a smooth and effective collaboration across staff and exceeding guests’ expectations
  • Assist with daily operational duties, inclusive of reporting and opening/closing procedures; Accurately complete all end-of-shift Wine Sales reports
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Milos and all food and beverage menus
  • Develop and execute wine and beverage training programs for all employees to improve their knowledge of wine tasting and wine service;
  • Support the management team with ensuring a state-of-the-art service delivery; Manage eventual clients’ complaints exceeding their expectations; Oversee and proactively deal with guest requests and complaints;

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the hospitality industry in a sommelier role.
  • Previous experience in fine dining preferred
  • Wine certification such as WSET, CMS, or SWE is highly desirable
  • Proven knowledge of food and beverage pairings;
  • Solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost management;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Second language preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Professional grooming and appearance;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, people-management skills;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes evenings, weekends and holidays;

Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, only steps away from Central Park, Broadway, and Times Square, Milos was chef Spiliadis’ grand entrance into the United States. His signature open kitchen and fish market, double-height ceilings, walls of windows and two mezzanine-level private dining rooms laid the foundation for what would become the standard bearer for Mediterranean food and the freshest, most exquisite ingredients in New York and beyond.
In 2017, a full renovation was completed, updating the restaurant New Yorker’s had grown to love. Notably, new Dinesen heart oak wood floors, a Pentelikon marble spiral staircase, and ceiling lights pendants modeled after the very lights used on our fishing boats in the Mediterranean were added. After years of requests from our guests to provide more private dining space, Milos added constructed a 10,000 square foot, state of the art private events level. Complete with four unique private dining rooms, movable walls to accommodate various sized groups and privacy requirements ranging from 10 to 250 guests, a full service bar and raw bar, lavatories, coat check and a dedicated kitchen, Milos is positioned as a premier destination for all our guests needs.
