TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT
REPORTS TO: CONTROLLER
FLSA: EXEMPT
POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a Staff Accountant who has a high attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks throughout the week. This position is responsible for managing bookkeeping and general office administrative duties. This position will report to the Controller and will be a hybrid of remote work as well as on location, including driving between properties as needed. A minimum of two days per week to be on-site, up to five days per week as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Maintains records according to generally accepted accounting principles including the recording of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of bank statements
- Applies strong accounting skills, including A/P, A/R, purchasing backup, journal entries, and all bookkeeping through financial statement preparation
- Understands, maintains and balances general ledger
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information and trends
- Develops systems to account for financial transactions
- Reconciliation of entries into the accounting systems
- Account reconciliation to assert the accuracy of transactions
- Notify Controller of any accounting errors
- Attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Participates in activities needed to support operations and the management functions of the team
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree required
- Two plus years of office, accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Food and Beverage experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures
- Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
- Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel (VLOOKUP), and Word
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
- Ability to interpret data and make cost effective decisions
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
- Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients
- Ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks
- Ability to travel to different locations around the Chicago area, as needed
- Hybrid remote and onsite work environment (40% onsite, 60% remote)
- Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day

Compensation: $55K-60K/year + bonus, $100/mo cell phone stipend, $75/mo travel stipend, $240/mo employer contribution to medical insurance
