Job Details
Queens is a popular specialty Korean grocery store offering seasonal, quality Korean food and an excellently curated array of goods and provisions. Along with our in-store offerings, we have an expansive list of retail partners nationwide that carry Queens housemade goods.

We are seeking a qualified Assistant GM to accelerate our growth:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AGM:

  • Responsible for creating an excellent shopping experience for our guests; they set the standard for great service, display and merchandising, excellent inventory management, and staff development.
  • Serve as the service leader for the entire store, handling all customer service inquiries and resolving any customer-related issues
  • The AGM assists with hitting sales goals, profitability, cost control, and regulatory compliance (health safety, ABC license)
  • Builds and maintains supportive and strong relationships with vendors
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, retention and scheduling FOH staff
  • Conducts hands-on training with staff ensuring Queens standards are maintained so excellent quality, flavor and freshness are maintained
  • Keeps staff up to date on new products, changes to procedures; monitors and holds staff accountable for implementing the changes.
  • Assists with quarterly staff evaluations to review performance
  • Verifies all invoices are received physically and electronically, ensuring proper pricing and follows up with vendors regarding credits and returns.
  • Responsible for store displays, cleanliness, and signage for the grocery products.
  • Assists with scheduling effectively, team performing solid opens and closes, and establishing policies and procedures to create greater efficiency
  • Oversees the dine-in service and makes sure all menus are updated and that online ordering is updated
  • Responsible for purchasing all disposables and necessary equipment for FOH staff
  • Oversees execution and successful packing of all online website orders and wholesale orders
  • Works closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure food availability and low counts
  • Assists in payroll accuracy – scheduling breaks/meal periods in compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with all local and state laws.
  • Participates in weekly store inspections and corrects issues in a timely manner.
  • Queens reserves the right, at any time, with or without notice, to alter or change job responsibilities or titles, reassign or transfer job positions, or assign additional job responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years retail, supervisory, or related experience
  • Three years in food and beverage
  • Deep knowledge of cooking, specialty grocery, and retail management preferred; interest in Korean food and products necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Slack, Word, Excel, Google Docs and ability to learn new technologies
  • Ability to deliver training and coaching effectively
  • Serve Safe, Food Handler’s Certification
