Summary of Opportunity:

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Crew Members to support our Downtown Evanston Storefront (618 ½ Church St) and Northwestern University Kiosk location (1999 Campus Dr). Our two locations are less than a ½ mile from each other. The role requires flexibility to support operations and shifts at both locations, as well as offsite events, festivals, and pop-ups. This is a great way to gain exposure to our different operations, learn new skills, and position yourself for maximum hours/shifts + growth opportunities.

We are looking for folks who love being around and interacting with others! Being a Crew Member means you’re right on the line interacting with customers and serving them their meals. Your goal is to ensure that they have a great experience -- from recommending your favorite dishes & sauces to handling their questions about dietary needs, this role is all about service and taking care of customers!

During your shifts, you will also spend time setting up and breaking down our veggie & protein stations, restocking supplies, maintaining proper sanitation & cleanliness inside of our kiosk, cleaning dishes & utensils, and doing basic prep (e.g. washing / slicing simple herbs and garnish, portioning noodles & sauces). Part time and full time positions are available. 

At the Downtown Evanston Storefront, current operating hours are Tues-Sat, from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, but Mon and nighttime hours will restart soon (we typically open Mon-Sat, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM).

At the Northwestern University Kiosk, primary operating hours are Sun-Sat, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Weekend and day/night flexibility is required for special events and operations.


Highlights:
  • Rate of Pay: $15-17 plus tips (on average, gratuity adds extra $1-3/hour). Negotiable hourly wage based on experience, certifications and ability to legally drive. We offer paid training.
  • Hours of Operation: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM, seven days a week (flexibility required)

Crew Member Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in food service
  • Proficient in utilizing kitchen equipment (knives, grill, ovens, processors, etc)
  • Enjoy working on a team and in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Handler Certificate required (able to get it within 30 days of employment)
  • Valid Food Manager Certificate a major plus -- subject to higher earning/wages
  • Valid Driver’s License a major plus -- subject to higher earning/wages (company vehicle is provided)
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Be able to adapt to changing customer volume levels with a sense of urgency

Company Background:
Viet Nom Nom is a Vietnamese-inspired food service company, which was founded in 2015. The
company started in a shared kitchen, focusing on pop-up events and its budding Northwestern
University partnership -- the company eventually opened its first brick & mortar location in Downtown
Evanston in 2017. In the next 3 years, Viet Nom Nom developed a significant and large-scale partnership
with Northwestern, which involved becoming a preferred catering vendor, serving grab & go meals all
across campus, and even operating a kiosk at the football stadium.

The storefront in Evanston continues to serve as Viet Nom Nom’s flagship location, but the company
quickly expanded, opening 3 locations in the summer of 2020 in Evanston and Chicago. Big plans are in
the works yet again to further grow in the fall & winter of 2021 so there are numerous opportunities to
grow with Viet Nom Nom!

Viet Nom Nom is run by a hands-on owner with a successful business background, entrepreneurial experience, and strong food acumen. He has 7+ years in corporate banking & strategy experience, previously owned an event planning, and has held several board positions with community & non-profit organizations. His passion is to create a positive, family-style, and successful work environment that then allows the team to have a positive effect on the community around them.

Viet Nom Nom is a Vietnamese-inspired fast casual restaurant & multi-operation food service company based in Evanston, IL. We started our concept in 2015 and opened our first brick & mortar location in 2017.

Our menu features a modern, unique fingerprint on traditional Vietnamese concepts, like banh mi and pho. We offer our own housemade & elevated recipes that highlight local ingredients and cater to the growing dietary needs of today's modern diners.

We've grown like crazy in a short period, leveraging our unique menu & strategic partnerships. In 2020, despite the challenges of the pandemic, we were able to open THREE new locations in three consecutive months. We opened a kiosk at Dr. Murphy's Food Hall in the Old Cook County Hospital (Illinois Medical District), a private commissary & ghost kitchen at The Hatchery (East Garfield Park), and a food court location inside of the Norris Center on Northwestern University's campus.

We currently use our Evanston storefront like a commissary to support multiple businesses across Evanston & Chicago. In particular, we have a significant partnership with Northwestern University. We are a preferred catering partner, operate a daily grab & go meal distribution business across campus (~200 units/day across 5 locations), run campus food court kiosks, and even have a stadium kiosk at Ryan Field during football season.

Our new kitchen inside of The Hatchery also serves as a mass production facility for sauces, marinades, and proteins for all of our operations, especially for offsite pop-ups & festivals across Chicagoland.
