Title: Sous Chef
Hours: 45-50 per Week
Reports to: Site Chef, Executive Chef, Culinary Director
Position Objective: Example: Our Sous Chefs are management on site, and as such, they are the backbone and leader of the kitchen as a whole. Their primary focus is the oversight of daily operations and the communication with the line staff. This position also oversees line staff to ensure a positive guest experience. They will maintain the tone and vibe as related from Land and Sea Dept.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversight of Staff:
- Supervise all employees on shift to ensure a smooth service
- Manage line staff effectively to ensure completion of daily responsibilities
Oversight of Sales and Profitability
- Work with Site Chef on daily ordering based on sales to ensure proper food cost
- Oversee staff to ensure proper use of all product in house
Oversight of Property
- Maintain a clean work environment throughout the shift including clean floors, work surfaces, and equipment
- Help organized all food storage areas including walk-in’s and dry storage areas
- Observe all city of chicago food safety guidelines
- Maintain professional appearance at all time, attitude and appearance
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
- May perform other job duties as they arise
