POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Expeditor acts as a liaison between the BOH staff and the FOH staff, which ensures a steady workflow throughout the various departments of a restaurant. An Expeditor is also responsible for facilitating kitchen orders, maintaining quality control, and monitoring food safety.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the operations of all areas/elements within their operation.
- Maintain systems to ensure high-quality food preparation and quality control standards.
- Operate ethically to protect the image of our company.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Accountable for maintenance of all kitchen equipment and facilities.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Must have 2+ years of experience as a food expeditor or similar position
- NYC Food Handlers Certificate and in-depth knowledge of all relevant health and safety guidelines and regulations
- Demonstrated success in executing to a high standard.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of kitchen equipment tools
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work with this diverse team; must support and advance a culture of committed action, excellence, and respect.
- Self-disciplined, shows initiative, possess leadership ability, and is outgoing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
