Job Details

General Purpose

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing the day-to-day Front of House (bar + kitchen) operations of Halfway Crooks Beer. This includes hiring, scheduling, personnel management, maintaining SOPs and service standards, keeping a clean and orderly house, customer and vendor relations, and more. The GM will lead, delegate, and empower a team of supporting managers to achieve a greater collective effort. Working as part of the leadership team, the GM will identify opportunities for improvement across the business to elevate Halfway Crooks Beer.

Job Duties

  • New hire onboarding in coordination with Culture director
  • Ensure a proper and complete training for all new staff and MODs
  • Communicate full job expectations and provide accountability for all team members
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Lead on the ground through MOD shifts and bar back up as necessary during peak hours to ensure smooth service and be present/accountable to staff
  • Post weekly schedule in timely manner to give FOH/Kitchen staff adequate time to plan their weeks
  • Manage employee time off and availability requests
  • Coordinate with production management to post their schedule
  • Implement productivity, quality, and standards of service, determining and implementing system improvements
  • Issue disciplinary actions due to poor staff performance or other reasons, up to and including termination notices
  • Maintain FOH SOPs and uphold company policies
  • Contribute and publish all FOH SOPs to the Halfway Crooks Beer Wiki 
  • Identify and delegate duties to staff as necessary
  • Update hours as needed on all digital and printed post locations
  • Field and resolve customer issues and feedback passing up complex issues or critical information to leadership
  • Coordinate with leadership and communications on promotions and service related social media pushes
  • Coordinate with Culture Director to complete annual performance reviews of all FOH staff
  • Participate in leadership meetings with updates on status of FOH, providing food & beverage sales insights from Arryved, bringing new ideas to the table, etc.
  • Manage achievement of FOH revenue and food cost goals
  • Manage Arryved POS i.e., inventory and item entry, employee labor hours, reporting, front end displays, hardware, etc.
  • Troubleshooting issues, coordinate with Arryved support team
  • Maintain facility by meeting sanitation, cleanliness, style, and ambience goals
  • Complete biweekly Charm Recycling Run for bottles and cans
  • Set dining room with flower ordering and pick up in when in season
  • Ensure proper maintenance of facility fixtures and property - ice machine cleaning, urinals, window cleaning, etc.
  • Delegate housekeeping duties as needed to ensure all tasks are completed
  • Keep up to date printed and digital menus as needed
  • Maintain bar-related vendor relationships such as Savannah Dist, Supersource, pest control, fire inspection, Gore Cola, Walker Brothers, etc.
  • Oversee kitchen manager/chef to hold accountable for productivity, efficiency, ordering, cost, and quality
  • Collaborate on menu development with kitchen and management team and ensure key Halfway Crooks Beer food items are always available
  • Collaborate with leadership, events manager on planning and executing brewery events such as Oktoberfest, Anniversary, Boevenmarkt, etc.
  • Coordinate with events manager to ensure proper scheduling and execution of private event bookings
  • In collaboration with events manager maintain private events and large party notifications on calendar to prevent overbooking
  • Ensure uninterrupted FOH/kitchen operations due to short supplies by identify and ordering or delegating to kitchen/support management
  • Coordinate with beer manager to ensure uninterrupted beer service due to quality, draft system, information, or supply issues
  • Coordinate with production team on radler supplies ordering and packaging needs
  • Identify opportunities for improvement or optimization and present to leadership for possible implementation
  • Communicate with leadership or HR any issues or work challenges so they can be heard and resolved, improved, or explained
  • Other related duties as required

 

What you’ll need

  • 5+ years restaurant or related hospitality/service industry experience
  • 2+ years management experience
  • Strong organization and administrative skills
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills
  • Ability to work as a team and delegate tasks as needed
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Willingness to think critically and problem-solve
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate high individual initiative
  • A passion for craft beer and desire to continue learning
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, office applications, email

 

Working requirements

  • May be required to work in standing or sitting position for long periods
  • May be required to reach, bend, stoop, climb stairs; ability to lift, push and/or pull to 100 pounds
  • May be required to exceed 40 hours per week as needed
  • Weekends & holidays shifts
  • Day & night shifts
