Tanta is a Peruvian upscale restaurant dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with the people of Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, casual and colorful downtown setting. Tanta looks to take each guest that walks through the doors on an adventure through Peru's cuisine.

We are seeking an Executive Chef to join the team. Experience with Peruvian food is a plus howeve we are willing to train and educate the right candiate. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and dedicate time to expanding our clientele base to establish the restaurant's brand and reputation. 

Executive Chef Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with sous chefs.
  • Participates in the design of food menu.
  • Produces high quality plates, including both design and taste.
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff.
  • Menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.
  • Prepares food properly.
  • Helps in Schedules staff shifts.
  • Trains new employees.
  • Orders food supplies.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen.

Executive Chef Qualifications/Skills:

  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Formal culinary training can be helpful
  • Kitchen experience
  • 3 years in culinary managmenet position in a high volume and culinary level environment. 
  • Food Handlers Certification
