About Public Records:
We are a diverse and dynamic team focused on community and inclusivity. We operate inside a hybrid multi-room space; equal parts busy restaurant & bar with over 20 cocktails, a separate hi-fi sound room for premiere DJ club nights and Jazz performance takeovers, and a cultural incubator & cafe focused on vinyl records and zines.

Our restaurant program focuses on delivering the best possible experience by showcasing our creative & healthy food with well-balanced craft cocktails + natural wines.

The restaurant, performance, and community space is built within the historic former ASPCA Headquarters on the tip of Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal. We are entirely vegan, maintain a plastic-free operation, and champion diverse peoples and scenes through both our artistic and cultural programming.

About you:
You are a passionately driven person dedicated to championing a highly functional safe space for staff and guests alike. You take great pride in doing your job well while helping to support your staff through education, co-defining standards of operation with the core management team, and constantly pursuing excellence.

As a Floor Manager:
As a manager, you will direct the flow of service, overview and support all service standards, and continually help define and refine service. You will be working in directly with the GM, Executive Chef and Bar Manager to help train and manage of all FOH staff with core management members, in addition to managing the floor during service + base admin duties.

Required: 

  • 3+ years managerial experience in NYC
  • In depth knowledge of food and wine
  • NYC Food Handler’s Safety Certification
  • Expert understanding of steps of service
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position which includes, but is not limited to, standing for up to 10 hours, and lifting up to 25lbs+

Helpful: 

  • Passion for Vegan cuisine
  • Bartending and/or cocktail development experience
  • Knowledge of Upserve/ Breadcrumb, Tripleseat, Resy

Responsibilities

  • Floor Management
    • Manage FOH service staff while in-service
    • Ensure steps of service are consistently met and carried out effectively 
    • Oversee floor plan and reservation flow
    • Lead pre-shifts; prepare and distribute BOD + EOD reports
    • Ensure service runs smoothly and guest expectations are exceeded 
    • Oversee communication between BOH + FOH 
    • Assist service where needed [taking orders, expo, running/bussing, etc.]
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the brand and menu items
    • Communicate menu changes and allergy information to all FOH and cafe staff
    • Update menus and POS as needed
  • Clearly and cohesively articulate the hospitality and f+b vision
  • Report + ensure accurate daily revenue totals 
  • Meet labor goals
  • Oversee cleaning and sterilization of all FOH/BOH areas
  • Ensure BOH + FOH adhere to house organization systems + processes
  • Inventory management

Admin:

  • Ensure compliance with DOH, FDNY and other applicable city/state regulations
