Nisei is looking for an individual that is highly motivated, possess a positive attitude, dedicated to the hospitality industry, humble, team players, a desire to learn, respectful and honest. Prospective hires must have a minimum of 2 years Management with Fine Dining & Wine experience to apply.


ABOUT THIS POSITION :

The Assistant General Manager Position provides administrative, technical and analytical support to the Kitchen and Dining Room Management teams, under the supervision of the General Manager and Executive Chef. This position will collaborate with internal and external partners to accomplish all administrative tasks relating to the organization and business operation of Nisei. The Assistant General Manager contributes to the planning, organization, and training necessary to achieve restaurant objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, communication and awareness, guest service and satisfaction, food quality and compliance.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and previous experience with Japaneese food, wine & sake highly preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree and /or Culinary degree preferred
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience as a successful restaurant manager, preferably in a fine dining environment.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel (Advanced ability), PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with accounting software, POS systems, and payroll/HRIS systems.
  • Extensive experience training staff
  • Ability to comply with company’s health and safety standards
  • Excellent communication and organization skills. Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with a variety of business partners.

About Nisei:
Restaurant Nisei is the premier fine dining Californian Japanese establishment in San Francisco. Started in 2019 as a pop-up, Nisei has evolved over several years before establishing its home in Russian hill at the previous La Folie restaurant. The format of the menu will be a tasting menu and the style of cuisine can be described as modern innovative take on Japanese American cuisine with a base in Washoku (Japanese home-cooking). Owner David Yoshimura (Californios, Ishikawa, WD~50) is also a certified Sommelier and stresses the importance of being a well-rounded hospitality professional through hands on mentorship for each employee.
Next door, Nisei also owns a craft cocktail bar named Iris, which boasts an impressive cocktail program.
