Job Details
Hewn, a nationally recognized and independently owned artisan bakery in Evanston, Illinois is seeking a savory chef to join our hard-working and talented team. We take enormous pride in our work, making everything from scratch, by hand, using locally sourced and organic ingredients. We are located within walking distance to the lake and public transportation. The Savory Chef leads the Savory team at the bakery, making breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, soups, salads and take & bake items.

Required Skills: You must know kitchen basics, including understanding ingredients. Good knife skills and an understanding of food safety guidelines are required. You must be able to work efficiently and carefully in a fast-paced environment. You must also enjoy working with a team.

Required Experience: The ideal candidate has a culinary degree and a minimum of 3 years of professional kitchen experience. Experience managing people is a plus.  Candidates must be available to work weekends and lift 50 lbs. ServSafe certification is required. A cover letter, resume and references are also required to apply for this position.

All initial interviews will be held over Zoom.  The second round of interviews will involve a stage.  All Hewn staff are fully vaccinated.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience)
