Fireside Restaurant & Bar located has been a lively spot serving the Northside Chicago community and beyond since 1904.

We are currently seeking an energetic General Manager skilled and qualified in all aspects of restaurants & hospitality. This person should be widely experienced in FOH and proficient with BOH. We are looking for a social minded person who is passionate about our guests, our neighborhood, our community, has experience in networking and onsite / offsite event planning. Our ideal candidate is ready to dive in and be hands on. Somebody who excels at process improvements and doesn't shy away from challenges.  We strive to maintain a healthy work & life balance for all. Many of our team members have been with us for years. We are a small but growing restaurant family with 3 other restuarants in the Chicago area. 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS:

  • 3 years management experience in a full service hospitality environment with a strong background in either bar or serving
  • Night and weekend availability
  • Proficiency in using MS office software, and POS systems. You should know how to count, track and monitor inventory, manage costs & labor, manage financial reporting and record keeping, manage reservations, manage logistics & set up for events, read and respond to reviews, be the lead on repair and maintenance communications in addition to performing other administrative and record keeping tasks
  • Basset certified
  • IL approved food handlers card, ServSafe Manager certification preferred but not required
  • Toast experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to effectively listen and communicate with staff and guests.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with ownership and hourly management team members.

Working knowledge of guest service and recovery-you shine on the floor!  Experience in LBW inventory, purchasing, labor control, hiring practices, staff training and development, sales reports, cash reconciliation, adherence to daily operational duties and sanitation standards. Experience in ensuring new products and menu are executed properly following roll-out. The ability to foresee, identify, and resolve any potential issues or problems throughout the shift. Flexible in dealing with changes/problems (e.g., being short staffed).  Organizational skills and computer literacy. A coach-like leadership style. Hands on approach with staff to ensure proper food presentation and proper food-handling procedures. A desire and playbook to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and to maximize the financial performance. Ability to work with different personality types and give constructive feedback to personnel. Pleasant disposition, sociable, and accomodating nature.
