All employees are expected to deliver truly great service, and to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for our guests.  Employees must work well as a team, maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide fast, friendly, professional and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and restaurant staff. Greet, and make feel welcome, every guest entering restaurant and hotel.
  • Greet and acknowledge guests while smiling and making eye contact.
  • Recognize repeat guests while smiling and making eye contact.
  • Build a rapport with guests while walking them to the table.
  • Pull out chairs and/or tables before guests are seated.
  • Accommodate guests needs, i.e. wheel chair, restrooms, movement of drinks from one location to another, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between management and service staff.
  • Communicate guest complaints and compliments to management.
  • Communicates guests’ needs to staff/management, i.e. celebrating anniversary and/or birthday, etc.
  • Invite and welcome guests back upon completion of their visit.
  • Alerts the kitchen of business flow, i.e. how many guests will soon be ordering, how many guests are waiting to be seated, etc.
  • Walk the floor and provides floor updates to management, i.e. how many open tables, etc.
  • Ensure that guest seating is rotated between all service stations ton optimize service.
  • Answer telephone, take new reservations and maintain current reservations within procedural guidelines.
  • Master reservation system within two days.
  • Must be knowledgeable about The Thompson Chicago and Nico Osteria.
  • Must be knowledgeable about surroundings, i.e. nearby entertainment, stores, etc.
  • Perform all duties in adherence to the company standards.
  • Must have the ability to provide friendly, courteous and professional service to all internal and external customers/guests, at all times.
  • Perform all duties and sequences of service in adherence to standards.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule and late hours when necessary.
  • Must have the ability to report to work on time and on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The employee may be required to frequently climb (stairs). The employee is occasionally required to kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
