Izakaya Mita in Bucktown is looking for line cooks for its reopening team!

Featured on Check, Please!, Izakaya Mita is a family owned Michelin Guide Japanese Bar and Grill featuring small plates of Japanese soul food and a Bincho-tan (Japanese hardwood charcoal) Yakitori/Kushiyaki BBQ Grill. 

The ideal candidate will have and aspire to expand his/her knowledge of Japanese cuisine, while being able to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen in a team oriented co-supervisory system.  A passion for Japanese izakaya cuisine and the desire to be the standard bearer for it in the city of Chicago is absolutely essential.  Sashimi experience is highly desired.  Of course, the best candidate will possess excellent knife skills, maintain an efficient prep schedule, and keep an organized walk in. Also, the professionalism to work with Executive Chef's iniitatives, communicate with FOH co-supervisors, and lead the rest of our kitchen staff to ultimately ensure our guests the best izakaya experience in Chicago.  If you can speak Japanese, great! 

Additional opportunities beyond regular service are special pairing dinners with our sake forward beverage program, as well as offsite promotional opportunites.   

Benefits include 50/50 Employer/employee split on PPO Healthcare.  For the Sous Chef position, compensation includes monthly profit based bonus structure, as well as participation in full house tipshare. One week paid vacation (first year, maybe more if we can make enough money together).
