Job Details
Good Choice Vegan Café & Culinary Center is a dine-in & take-out casual cafe. In addition, we offer weekly meal plans and off-site catering
Chef Laurie is seeking a creative, experienced cook that is driven and excited about whole food plant-based vegan & seasonal cuisine, with a desire to increase their knowledge while contributing to this growing movement.
Our busy work environment consists of a small team committed to professional quality and attention to detail.
This position takes instruction from and works directly with the Chef, but also requires the ability to work independently, as well as with the staff team.
The successful candidate will have
  • The ability to adapt to a busy kitchen environment while working closely with restaurant staff.
  • At least 3 years of previous professional food preparation experience. 
  • A work-hard ethic.
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • The ability to work on your feet for long shifts.
Candidate should have the experience to perform these responsibilities in our open kitchen (including, but not limited to):
  • Excellent chef knife skills
  • Follow and properly execute recipes using fresh ingredients and various cooking and processing techniques
  • Familiarity with standard equipment, ingredients, and recipes
  • Prepare quality dishes efficiently to fill customer orders in accordance with food safety standards
  • Accommodate any dietary restrictions as requested
  • Maintain the freshness of all food supplies, rotating old ones out as needed
  • Store food items at the appropriate temperatures, properly clean cooking equipment after use, and ensure that the kitchen is pristine at the end of each shift
  • Tracking & writing prep lists
  • Setting up hot & cold line stations, keeping such consistently organized and clean
  • Line cook a la carte on hot & cold lines, at a quick service pace with accuracy
  • Cleaning, sanitation & upkeep of kitchen Adhere to health and safety standards, cleaning the kitchen frequently and practicing good personal hygiene.
Advantage:  experience in the vegan food business, customer service interaction, juice bar, baking, leadership qualities, food handler certification, culinary graduate.

We are centrally located in the village of Ossining, walking distance from the Metro North Hudson line Ossining train station, and Westchester County Bee line bus route.

Schedule: 5-6 days/week, 35-40 hours per week.
