Aita Clinton Hill is an established Italian restaurant located in the beautiful historic neighborhood of Clinton Hill in Brooklyn. Our focus is local, seasonal Italian cuisine supported by a natural wine list, creative cocktails, artisanal spirits, and craft beers. Attached to us is our small, intimate cocktail bar called Mayflower. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Front of House Manager/Assistant Manager to join our team of passionate individuals.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for working in hospitality and be excited about learning all facets of the job of running a restaurant. This person should want to join a team that celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and hard work while continually looking for ways for us to improve. This position is perfect for experienced/seasoned servers or bartenders looking to move into a managerial role or for a hospitality professional looking to dive deeper into the world of wine & spirits while being an integral part of daily service.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work closely with the General Manager to complete day-to-day tasks including ordering, organizing, general maintenance of the restaurant, preparing for service by leading pre-shift meetings
  • Work dinner service and be present on the floor (at least 4 shifts, may or may not include brunch)
  • Assist in overseeing a staff of about 20 people - ensuring that our level of service is upheld and that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being followed and executed correctly as well as Department of Health (DOH) standards are strictly adhered to
  • Work with the Owner and General Manager to find new ways to motivate and encourage the staff
  • Conduct constructive and educational pre-shift meetings with staff to uphold our high standards for service and product knowledge
  • Onboarding and training of new staff
  • Assist General Manager with stocking and organization of liquor & wine
  • Contribute to creative marketing strategies (managing social media is a plus)


  • At least 2+ years experience working in a New York City restaurant as either a server/lead server, bartender/head bartender, or Maitre D' (previous experience in a leadership role is a plus) OR a degree in Hospitality Management/Beverage Management
  • Intermediate food knowledge
  • Intermediate wine and spirits knowledge
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and love for food, beverage, and making people happy
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. and stand on their feet for a minimum of 6 hours
  • Exposure to reservations system (RESY or OpenTable is a plus)
  • Must be organized, punctual, thorough
  • Must have outstanding communication skills as well as guest-facing skills

Aita (and our speakeasy cocktail bar right next door called Mayflower) has been serving the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn since 2012 with sister restaurants Aita Trattoria (Crown Heights) and LaRina (Fort Greene) nearby. As an italian restaurant we cook elegant, rustic, honest food that brings back traditional and nostalgic flavors. We base our menu on local and seasonal ingredients often coming from farms and green markets.

Our wine list consists mostly of natural, small production wines focusing mainly on Italy with wines from France and a few New World selections as well, which changes seasonally. The spirits program centers around local and craft spirits while focusing heavily on Amaro and Aperitivo spirits. The cocktail list also changes seasonally and utilizes fresh produce and ingredients that complement the food we serve.
