Make a meaningful impact as a Team Member FOH at Daily Provisions!

Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!

The Team Member FOH is a tipped position that will work in collaboration with the Manager and GM. The Team Member FOH will work closely with the FOH management team to drive service each day and inspire team members to work together and hold one another accountable to the standards set. The Team Member FOH will display warmth, and hospitality as they perform the Front of House duties and responsibilities expertly and efficiently.  This role could also include administrative work, opening or closing duties, or stepping in to needed roles in the restaurant as business demands. The Team Member FOH can support the full scope of stations capable of rotating in the same shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail at all times
  • Effective and timely communication to all FOH/BOH team members throughout the service
  • Interact with genuine hospitality when speaking to vendors and guests; cultivate relationships with regulars
  • Ensure excellent maintenance of the dining room
  • Understand proper steps of service and consistently execute them with efficiency and grace while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout the service
  • Demonstrate an understanding of enlightened sales techniques and seek opportunities to inform guests about additional offerings (pastry, breads, rotisserie chicken, and other to-go items)
  • Able to multitask and cover multiple FOH roles depending on the demands of the business, including but not limited to Barista, Cashier, Food Runner, Bar Support
  • Familiarity with current trends in the specialty coffee and tea industry, i.e. origin profiles, coffee processing methods, proper espresso extraction, single origin espresso, brew ratios
  • Must possess passion for coffee and ability to prepare classic exresso beverage (cappuccino, macchiato, cortado, etc.)
  • Have a general understanding of Department of Health (DOH) food safety standards

  • 1+ years of experience in kitchens and/or service in a restaurant
  • NYCDOH Food Handlers License
  • Ability to create latte art is preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ideally in two or more languages
  • Able to accommodate a flexible schedule
  • Able to stand for long hours
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and multitask effectively

  • 401(k) Plan: USHG offers a voluntary retirement investment plan that allows you to defer a portion of your income and use pre-tax dollars to save for your retirement. All employees who are 21 years of age or older may elect to participate after 12 months of continuous employment.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: All employees who have completed 12 months of continuous, full-time employment may elect to set up Flexible Spending Accounts in January of each year. Flexible Spending Accounts allow employees to defer pre-tax income to pay for certain eligible expenses including health care costs not covered by health insurance, transportation to work, and qualified child care expenses. Flexible Spending allows you to increase the income you take home by reducing the amount of taxes you pay for qualified expenses.
  • Direct Deposit: We offer direct deposit of paychecks to your financial institution at no cost to you. You may sign up for direct deposit at any time.
  • Corporate Discount Programs: As a USHG employee, you can get a discounted rate at area gyms and massage services. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to stay healthy and strong!
  • Employee Dining Program: Through this program, we hope to make dining in our restaurants a reality for all our employees. The program starts out as a discount program and adds Dining Dollars over time.
