Job Details

Frankies Spuntino Group—the iconic Brooklyn restaurant brand of Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli—is looking for a kind, talented, and motivated Sous Chef to join our team at Frankies 457 and Franks Wine Bar. 


Our cuisine at both restaurants is rooted in rustic Italian-American tradition, prepared elegantly, simply, deliciously. This experience, which will be under the guidance of our Executive Chef, promises to accelerate the careers of dedicated and professional sous chefs and line cooks. It’s an opportunity to work in a fast-paced but friendly kitchen, explore such artisanal practices as charcuterie and fermentation, and work with a range of quality products.

Qualifications and responsibilities:

  • A true passion for cooking and desire to work with the Executive Chef to create seasonally appropriate specials and new menu items
  • Advanced knife skills and understanding of cooking methods
  • Ability to navigate multiple forms of communication, such as email, phone, Slack
  • Proficient verbal communication skills in high volume, fast paced environment
  • Comfortable ordering from various purveyors through email, online platforms, phone and text. 
  • Knowledge & understanding of food cost, inventories, labor, and profitability
  • Managing a team of 30+ employees under the direction of the Executive Chef
  • Strong understanding of NYS Department of Health codes (A food handler’s certificate is required; if you do not have one, we will compensate you to receive one)
  • Ability to manage a team of porters and dishwashers to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitized work environment
  • Comfortable expediting during busy dinner services 
  • Familiarity with catering and large group dining, on and off premises
  • Team-oriented mindset - ability to work with others and step into various positions when needed 
  • Comfortable creating and managing prep pars for on and off premise events
