Summary:

Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing operating procedures for a single restaurant. For the Assistant General Manager to excel, they should have full control over the organization’s processes. Their duties include reviewing guest satisfaction, daily operation, sanitation, forecasting, and financials. Communication, both verbally and written, is vital with Upper Management, Corporate, Director of Operation, Hourly Employees, FOH and BOH. The Assistant General Manager will report to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Run daily operation of restaurant 
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings
  • Identify and manage all aspects pertinent to providing guests with the atmosphere standard set by management upon opening (lighting, table setting, music volume, crowd density, etc.)
  • Uphold company standards: uniform, goods, service, operation, guest satisfaction
  • Write weekly staff schedule based on anticipated business levels, availability, requests, etc.
  • Organize and lead staff trainings
  • Interview, hire, train, termination, performance reviews and disciplinary action of Hourly Employees
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude
  • Stay on top of industry trends
  • Mentor and develop FOH and BOH team members
  • Ensure all employees are being treated fairly and with respect
  • Full understanding of Chicago Health Department Sanitation guidelines
  • Understanding, implementing and monitoring operational policy and procedures of the organization 
  • Full understanding of P&L statements, profit margins, forecasting, labor, COG and budgeting
  • Operational performance daily, weekly, and quarterly, as well as taking corrective action with urgency whenever and wherever needed to meet financial goals
  • Ability to communicate with multiple teams: Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Executive, Catering, FOH & BOH Management

Required Education and Experience:

3 years Restaurant or 1 year AGM experience in a trendy high-volume restaurant group

ANSI Accredited Food Protection Manager Certification 

City of Chicago Certified Foodservice Manager License

BASSET certification within 30 days of employment 

ANSI accredited Allergen certification 

College Degree in Hospitality, Business Administrations, Finance or related field is preferred
