Greens Restaurant is a celebration of vegetarian cuisine and offers a multi-seasonal menu of farm fresh produce.

For more than 40 years, Greens Restaurant has supported winemakers and growers who share our committment to sustainability and stewardship of the environment. We favor wines that are produced in limited quantities, by organic, bio-dynamic, and sustainable practices. Above all, we offer wines that are delicious and complimentary to our vegetarian cuisine.

This position offers the possibility of growth and the opportunity to work with an variety of wines in restaurant that is upscale casual. 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Assist Greens management in the overall operational, administrative, and financial management of the Beverage Department.
  • Uphold the highest standards of service in accordance with protocols and practices as outlined in the Greens service manual.

 Service/Operations

  • Provide wine service to the guests of Greens and support our servers during dinner service
  • Daily wine stocking of par levels- sparkling, whites, and red
  • Submit orders based on par levels and inventory
  • Make wine suggestions and pair wines with menu items. Communicate with chef directly as to the nature and flavors of each dish and match up with the appropriate wine profile
  • Update and produce wine lists and education documents for service staff
  • Represent the wine department at daily line ups
  • Educate staff on new wines, 86’d items
  • Help educate staff on proper wine service, new wines, food and wine pairings
  • Maintain physical inventory of the cellar; racking and restocking wines, processing deliveries
  • Communicate corked wines to management

Education and Development

  • Attend and participate in-house tasting with Greens leadership
  • Maintain professional relationships with purveyors and wine industry professionals
  • Work closely with Chef to develop food and wine knowledge, and pairings for staff education
  • Assist in the training of new FOH hires as it relates to wine service and product knowledge

 Administrative

  • POS - Manage Toast (POS) with wine inventory
  • Assist Greens Beverage Department with monthly inventory

 Financial

  • Communicate with Executive Director on nightly sales- figures and product mix
  • Targeted sales approach to turn over inventory- identify what is not moving
  • Nightly sales goal as developed by Executive Director
  • Maintain a COG’s, not to exceed 30%
  • Nightly approval of all wine comps
  • Track and request credits for corked wines with Beverage DIrector

 Compensation & Schedule

  • Full time position- 5 days a week, daily hours to be determined
  • Commission on bottle sales, quarterly performance bonus

 Benefits

Compensation: Hourly ($25.00 - $30.00) plus tips
