Always Maintain the highest level of standards across all aspects of the operation Primary Focus 

  • Fulfill day to day operational duties 

o Open & Close of business 

o Cash reconciliation, tip-pool reconciliation and reporting 

o Managers logbooks are completed 

o Delegation of FOH opening and closing checklists 

o Daily FOH positions delegated 

o Ensure staffing levels are accurate and sustainable 

o Pre-Shift Line Up and team briefing 

  • Ensure Venue Ambience and Presentation are aligned with the venue’s conceptual vision • Maintain DOH and SLA compliance at all times 
  • Connect and collaborate with all members of the Chinese Tuxedo leadership team on all operations • Ensure a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees 
  • Determine needs of staff at a macro and micro level 
  • Train and develop all frontline FOH staff team members 
  • Supervise, motivate and ensure high performance of all frontline FOH team members • Manage performance issues and mediate disputes internally 
  • Ensure all 8 Tuxedo’s Inc. policies, as stated in the employee handbook, are adhered too by all team members 

Hours of Work: 

  • Expected hours of work for salaried staff is 50 hours per week 

o Given the nature and demands of the role there is an expectation that all management are to be present for all key services, special events and management meetings

Workplace Health and Safety 

  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees 
  • Allocate sufficient resources for the practicable elimination or control of workplace hazards/associated risks in order to maintain a safe working environment and safe systems of work. 
  • Promptly and effectively deal with occupational injury and illness through active involvement in the return-to-work process. All incidents to be investigated and corrective action implemented.

The site has a long and storied history that is evident in the painstaking refurbishment conducted by owners Jeff Lam and Eddy Buckingham. The space at 5-7 Doyers Street was formerly the Chinese Theater (also known as the Chinese Opera House) opened by Chinatown merchant Chu Fong in 1893. In its heyday, the theater was not only an important social gathering place for the community, but also a destination for non-Chinese to show the breadth of their cultural knowledge.
