La Josie, a family-owned Bib Gourmand Mexican restaurant on Randolph Row, has been serving family recipes and supporting the best agave distillers from all regions of Mexico since May of 2017. In just a few short years, La Josie has become a beloved destination to eat, drink, and socialize in the West Loop. Most importantly, however, La Josie is a family of hard-working, middle class restaurant veterans passionate about treating their guests like family and this establishment like home.

We are seeking to add the right Host/ Hostess to our FOH team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, hands-on professional with previous experience hosting in the restaurant industry. You should be able to comfortably greet and accomodate guests and should actively strive to improve the details. You must be able to work well independently, work well with our team, and above all, be passionate about facilitating unforgettable guest experiences.

  • Familiarity with Mexican cuisine and agave, and/or a willingness to learn more
Essential duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain a cheerful, courteous disposition and a clean, professional image
  • Confirm reservations
  • Set up floorplan
  • Participate in preshift
  • Review and set tags for guests
  • Plot reservations accordingly 
  • Answer phone calls, gather information, answer questions with grace and patience
  • Quote accurate wait times
  • Greet reservations with a smile & communicate covid precautions
  • Confirm pick up & delivery food orders correctly
  • Confirm orders are complete and given to the correct person
  • Keep host stand organized and sanitized
  • keep QR code inventory
  • Complete opening, sidework & closing procedures
Minimum Qualifications
  • Servsafe certifications Food handler, Basset
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Resy, Toast, Asana, and Slack is preferred
Physical demands and work enviorment
  • Ability to be flexible and open-minded about job demands
  • Ability to move or handle deliveries throughout the restaurant (generally between 0-30 lbs.)
  • Ability to work varied schedules, as business dictates
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
