CHEF de CUISINE for OFF PREMISE CATERING COMPANY
Dish Food & Events is an off-premise catering company based in Brooklyn, NY and is seeking a Chef de Cuisine to join our culinary management team. The Chef de Cuisine will report to the Executive Chef and be responsible for food preparation/production, inventory, preparing client tastings, packing and expediting events, organizing, and supervising the culinary prep team. The Chef de Cuisine will also share administrative responsibilities such as scheduling kitchen staff, hiring & training new team members and placing vendor food/supply orders. The ideal candidate must have a solid culinary background in special events catering, with a desire and passion to create beautiful, great tasting food. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be a team leader and manager while fostering positive communication, collaboration in a fun work environment with the entire Dish team.
  • 3+ years experience in a busy catering, restaurant, or hotel as a sous chef or similar position
  • Culinary school preferred but not required
  • Be friendly, intelligent, motivated and self-aware
  • Ability to read a catering event order (BEO), understand menus and prep lists, and communicate instructions to kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that will include early mornings, some evenings and weekends
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) helpful but not required
  • Must have NYC DOH food protection certificate

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Executive Chef to develop daily prep lists and then execute food production in our kitchen, resulting in quality work and delicious food
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of food product and supplies
  • Responsible for packing and expediting outgoing events
  • Execute Client tastings as needed
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with kitchen team, operations department, event staff, sales team and vendors 
  • Assist in hiring, scheduling and training kitchen and event staff
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen as per NYC Dept of Health guidelines including Covid-19 safety requirements
  • Update and maintain recipes, costing, and other menu details in Total Party Planner (catering software)
  • Attend off premise full service events from time to time on an as needed basis
  • Adhere to mission, policies and core values as described in the Dish Food & Events Employee Handbook

  • Salary in the $75k to $85k per year range, based on experience
