About Us

In 2013, Ignacio Mattos opened Estela on Houston Street in the space that once housed the Knitting Factory music venue. With a deep wine list and a bar serving cocktails late into every evening, Estela is a place that takes inspiration from the busy, dependable restaurants that Mattos loves to visit around the world but that is also firmly rooted in downtown New York City.

In early 2016, he opened his second restaurant on Spring Street in SoHo, the Italian restaurant Altro Paradiso, and in the Fall of 2016, Flora Bar in the Met Breuer Museum. Since its opening, estela has been named one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and has retained a Michelin Star for two consecutive years, in addition to a wide range of best-of local and national publications, and Ignacio was nominated for a James Beard Best Chef: New York award in 2017.

In August of 2021, we will be opening another location; an all-day Milanese style cafe at 1 Rockefeller Plaza, called Caffe Lodi. 

In the Fall of 2021, will be delivering the food and beverage program for a luxury, boutique hotel in a beautiful period building on the Lower East Side. This includes: an elegant, upscale restaurant, a neighborhood bar, lounge, rooftop bar, in-room dining and several private event spaces.

Due to the growth of the group, we are looking to hire a company Wine Director.  This person will have in-depth knowledge of both classic and natural wine. A Master Sommelier calibre candidate that not only has strong technical knowledge but also emotional intelligence to handle team members and guests.

This role will initially focus on becoming accustomed to our existing wine lists and team members and then move to developing the wine programs at Caffe Lodi and our 4th location on the Lower East Side.  This will be an evolving role and requires someone that has worked in both fine dining and casual fine dining establishments. You will spend time on the floor, coaching team members, working with GMs in being able to uphold the quality of food, beverage, and service.
