Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Events Manager to lead our event planning on the North Shore at Sophia Steak and Pomeroy, coming this summer in Winnetka. You will oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing, achieving sales projections, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service & satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation of events.

  • Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, professional and gracious service at all times
  • Perform all aspects of the position with efficiency, respect, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion, courtesy and initiative.
  • Collaborate with the management team to create a culture and restaurant work environment based upon respect; foster opportunities for the team to learn, grow and develop their abilities.
  • Understand all programs, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training protocols.
  • Offer positive solutions to problems or issues and be a voice that is part of the decision-making team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Train in varying positions in Ballyhoo Hospitality
  • Meet with clients to identify and execute expectations for each event
  • Execute contracts and menus with costing of food/beverage, and budgets to ensure events remain within budget at all costs
  • Identify potential clients and opportunities through networking, marketing, and community involvement
  • Manage all aspects of event planning and execution, including, but not limited to, collaboration with subcontractors, venue identification, menu development, guests, seating, setup, tear-down, and follow-up processes
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations, anticipating and addressing any problems that may arise
  • Create summary reports of each event assessing overall success and submit findings to be used to develop successful future events
  • Complete weekly assignments as designated
  • Participate in Weekly Managers Meeting
  • These job functions include but are not limited to the following duties, additional duties may be assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry and preferably 1-2 years in event and restaurant management.
  • 2-3 years of culinary & wine experience, preferably in an upscale dining environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Culinary degree required
  • Excellent communication and organization skills. Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with a variety of business partners
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel (Advanced ability), PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with accounting software and POS systems
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and delegation abilities
  • Prior experience with budgeting and creating financial reports
  • Marketing and sales experience with proven sales negotiating and closing skills
