Position Summary:

The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group is currently hiring for advanced level management positions. The Assistant General Manager for our Second City Theaters Food & Beverage and Guest Services operations is responsible for assisting the General Manager in overseeing nightly operations of all F&B and Guest Services at Second City including:

overseeing nightly operations of all FOH including but not limited to: VIP/Group Management, executing refunds, customer negotiations, quality control, managing nightly service staff and creating/implementing policy for F&B and Guest Services procedures (with a goal of gaining efficiencies). The areas of responsibility will include: all theater spaces within The Second City (Main Stage, Etc., UP comedy club, as well as internal event spaces and 1959 bar & restaurant and theater F&B operations.

The AGM is also responsible for maintaining the POS systems, updating menu and staff changes and identifying and correcting tech issues. Managing COGS is imperative to ensure we’re operating both effectively and efficiently.

Candidates will be responsible for assisting the General Manager with the overall operation of their location while being trained to be a general manager at some point. Work with the General Manager and Chef in setting the direction of the business in day to day operations as well as a plan to grow the business, drive sales and manage costs. Must have the ability to run a smooth and efficient shift. This position will have a strong focus on organizational skills such as purchasing and scheduling along with other difficult operational related tasks. This candidate will have a strong desire to develop leadership and emotional maturity skills while learning to operate a busy, full-service establishment.

This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the GM. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K with employer match, PTO and parking

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Other duties will be assigned as needed)

Must be willing and able to do the following:

  • Interact with, direct and supervise employees on a daily basis in a fair and dignified manner
  • Assist with the interviewing, hiring, training, development and retention of qualified employees
  • Promote teamwork among co-workers and employees
  • Be hands on with all Front of House and Back of House positions to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • Authorize & control comps and voids for all service personnel
  • Follow up with employees and co-workers to ensure completion of assigned projects
  • Identify, address and document individual employee performance problems according to standard operating procedure. Discipline and/or terminate as necessary according to Fifty/50 Group proced


    • 3 to 5 years of full-service, high-volume MANAGERIAL experience in a polished, well-run, restaurant with 15 or more employees
    • A bachelor's or associates degree from any accredited university
    • Abililty to clearly communicate and write in English
    • Ability to lead and motivate your team with an attitude of mutual respect
    • Skilled in developing and maintaining guest rapport through interaction and social media
    • High-energy, guest-focused approach to floor management
