Hewn, an artisan bakery located in Evanston, Illinois, is looking for a hardworking, dedicated, friendly and reliable person to fill our Wholesale Coordinator position.  This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

We need a dependable person who is an early riser - and who is very organized. We currently provide wholesale bread and pastries to restaurants, coffee shops and small markets in the near northern suburbs and Chicago.

We are looking for a person who wants to be part of a small, but growing, independently owned business. This position requires extensive training, even for people with experience, so we want to hire someone who has the availability and willingness to be with us for the long haul.

Overall Responsibilities: The Wholesale Coordinator oversees all wholesale orders and deliveries, ensuring that new customers are entered correctly into the production system while maintaining all standing orders and cart orders in that system. The WC monitors and oversees all drivers and packagers, schedules all wholesale shifts and maintains/services the vans and all other wholesale equipment and parts. The WC provides prompt and excellent customer service to all wholesale customers, and engages with new customers interested in using Hewn products. The WC upholds and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, and is a member of the Hewn Leadership Team.  The WC reports directly to the owners.

Production/Orders: The WC reviews and modifies the daily wholesale master sheet and maintains accurate daily pricing for each customer. The WC monitors quality control of daily products and builds a positive relationship with customers by responding to questions and concerns in a timely manner. The WC monitors and reviews daily wholesale orders and distribution and helps prepare items for the following days’ delivery. The WC does the following:
• Obtains tax ID numbers, email contacts and other identifying information
• Instructs new customers with how to use the system
• Deletes/adds appropriate items specific for each customer
• Insures that current customers have access to online ordering
• Responds to emails from wholesale customers regarding order changes/additions
• Notifies owners of any issues with customers or products.

Delivery Driving/Supervision
The WC fulfills all responsibilities of the delivery driver, including delivering Hewn goods to all wholesale customers, following routes and time schedules, loading/unloading product, and collecting payments as needed/required. The WC promotes safe driving techniques and monitors routes, logistics and van usage for all drivers. The WC also monitors and supervises all packaging of wholesale products.

Staffing/Payroll
The WC is responsible for scheduling wholesale driving/packing staff according to the production and scheduling demands. He/She should make recommendations for hiring needs and work with the FOH Manager to create weekly and monthly staffing schedules. Every other week, the WC is also responsible for approving timesheets for payroll. The WC writes annual reviews of the driving/packing staff, and leads those reviews with one of the owners present.

Training/Quality Control
The WC is responsible for training all new wholesale staff and for following a standard training plan for new hires. The WC is also responsible for quality control, making sure that only the best product is provided to our wholesale customers. The WC must maintain all ServSafe certifications and monitor wholesale certifications as well.

Work Environment: The WC works to ensure a collaborative and respectful work environment for both the Wholesale team and the entire staff at the bakery. 

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Clean driving record and proof of insurance
Ability and willingness to drive and maintain small delivery vans 
Abilty to multitask and stay organized
Basic computer skills (must print out invoices and interpret production orders)
Outstanding customer service skills
Experience in retail food or equivalent type of job
A positive and energetic attitude
Ability to work early morning hours (beginning at 4 am) and at least one weekend day per week.
Ability to lift 50 lbs
HS diploma required, college degree preferred
ServSafe certification
