Palette Restaurant is seeking a highly motivated and service-minded individual to join our new fine dining concept as a Bartender.


Palette Restaurant reopens with the objectives of providing a unique cuisine paired with a special art focused ambiance in order to create a memorable fine dining experience for our guests. Palette provides a continuous effort to offer superlative quality and the highest level of gracious and courteous guest service. To perform successfully, Palette employees must not only have the qualifications and abilities to perform each of the essential functions of this position, but also must continually strive to meet or surpass Palette’s objectives and exacting standards.


Chef-owner Peter Hemsley is opening a restaurant ahead of the curve with its artistic interpretation of a culinary experience, engaging and warm hospitality alongside a classically-driven wine program. In addition to the Food and Beverage program, Palette will also house an art gallery and several artisan work spaces showcasing the artists unique talents. We are looking for the right member to join our team!


The bartender creates high level cocktails requiring extensive culinary knowledge, an elevated degree of skill and the ability to transform ingredients into high concept cocktails on par with fine dining culinary creations. 


Duties and Supporting Responsibilities

  • Prepare food and beverage components, ingredients and set up station for service
  • Execute creation of beverages for guests
  • Works with speed and precision to prepare intricate, precise and delicate creations.
  • Set up service and breakdown beverage stations for private functions in the gallery or other event spaces
  • Abides by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Responsible for cleaning bar, setting up and breaking down the bar
  • Prepares syrups, juices, tinctures, shrubs, bitters, and other base components for cocktails
  • Replenishes beverages as necessary and checks with guest for overall satisfaction
  • Ensure that all silver, plateware and glasses are wiped, spotless, in good condition and free of imperfections
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the bar area at all times and well stocked with supplies and beverages including:
    1. straightening bar area continuously
    2. cleaning counters, floors, shelves and refrigerators in their work station
    3. checking coolers and shelves to ensure proper stocking of beer, wine, liquor and all beverages
    4. stocking bar with ice as needed
    5. checking for supplies such as but not limited to: dry goods, sugar, salt, stir sticks, straws, napkins… as per specified in side-work list.
    6. requisition of additional supplies as needed
    7. cutting fruits, vegetables (if applicable) and other garnishes
    8. retrieving garnishes from kitchens
    9. restocking bar with clean glasses

 

  • Measures and makes recipes as directed by bar and culinary management.
  • Bartender is required to have knowledge of drink preparation inclusive of ingredients with tasting to ensure consistency throughout their shift
  • Maintains the bar area throughout preparation pre-service time and throughout service.
  • Maintains storage areas and vessels with care and thorough attention to detail.
  • Stores ingredients, bottles, glassware, and service pieces precisely.
  • Reports any maintenance deficiencies in a quick and timely way.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
  • Monitors bottle and ingredient levels regularly and communicates in writing the ordering needs to management
  • Anticipate guest needs, as to where guests will never have to ask for anything
  • To wish each and every guest a warm farewell and thank them for coming, if possible
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working condition i.e.: blender, ice equipment… and report to Management if not
  • Provide excellent service at all time to all of our guests
  • Measures and makes beverages following set menu recipes and standards.
  • Studies and maintains expert-level knowledge of beverage menu, ingredients, and Palette brand standards.
  • Works effectively with fellow colleagues.
  • Actively participates in the positive relationship between FOH and BOH teams by maintaining steady stream of communication with entire team.
  • Stocking and restocking bar and service stations from production and storage areas
  • Perform barista duties
  • Participates in inventory as led by leaders.
  • Engages actively during continuing education courses both within and outside the restaurant
  • Respond to all guest questions.  Provide guest assistance, direction and information as requested when working in public areas
  • Good knowledge of food and beverage in order to service and up sell our product, including liquors and cocktails.
  • Attend all food and beverage training classes
  • Following the posted opening and closing duties and side-work sheet
  • Generate a climate of enthusiasm
  • Assist, when requested by leaders, the polishing of the silverware and glassware

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for 8 hours or more, bending, twisting and moving frequently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
