Reports to: Executive Chef

Rate of Pay: Starting 15/hrMidrate: 17/hrHigh rate: 20/hr

Rate depends on experience and skill level

Job Description:

Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates. Ensures that all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality. Adheres to all safety and food handling procedures.

General Responsibilities:

  • Prepare dishes in accordance with specifications of the Executive and Sous Chef.
  • Complies cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Assists in food prep assignments as needed.
  • Ensure lunch/brunch service runs smoothly
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time.

Education and Experience:

  • Intermediate understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • Previous kitchen and hospitality experience required.
  • Food Handlers Certification required

Skills:

  • Must be able to efficiently communicate with all employees
  • Able to bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
