Job Details

The Restaurant at Meadowood is looking to grow our beverage team with the addition of a sommelier to our dining room staff. Meadowood, owned by Bill Harlan, is located in St Helela in the heart of the Napa Valley. The Restaurant, helmed by Chef Christopher Kostow, has earned three Michelin stars consecutively since the 2011 edition of the guide, and has also maintained a Forbes Five Star rating and four stars from the San Francisco Chronicle. We have also earned Wine Spectator's Grand Award for the past three years. Our beverage program currently includes 2,800+ selections on the wine list and over 8,000 bottles of wine focused on Napa Valley and Sonoma but with benchmark producers, regions, and styles from around the world.

Responsibilities to include:

  • selling, serving, and providing contextual recommendations for wine and beverage service
  • working as an active part of the dining room staff outside of serving beverages
  • assisting in receiving new product, keeping storage and service areas tidy, and providing input for beverage program growth
  • conducting accurate inventory
  • educating the staff on both current selection as well as the world of beverage in general
  • being a leader among our dining room staff
  • working along the wine team and chefs to create pairings for the menu
  • What you need to work here:
    • Certified Sommelier or higher (advanced or advanced candidates preferred, but not required)
    • Previous fine dining experience
    • Ability to repeatedly lift cases of wine
    • A positive attitude daily to help drive the team to greater things
    • Good leadership and communication skills
    • Genuine passion about food, wine, and hospitality
    • Experience and comfort using Excel, Word, and Binwise
    • Speaking another language is beneficial, but not required
