Ballyhoo is seeking an experienced and talented Executive Chef to lead our team at our Mexican concept, Old Pueblo Cantina. Drawing inspiration from the Sonoran-style cooking native to Tucson, Arizona, this laidback cantina seeks to be everyone’s favorite neighborhood spot even if they don’t live around the corner. The ideal candidate is passionate about Mexican and Southwestern cuisine. They will operate the restaurant kitchen on a daily basis with professionalism, respect, efficiency, knowledge, friendliness, teamwork, patience, awareness, and initiative. The Executive Chef understands the philosophy of the owner and adheres to all Ballyhoo Hospitality policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, hourly staff and guests.
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in kitchen preparation and cooking in a Mexican restaurant.
  • Experience preparing traditional Mexican or Latin-style cuisine, such as various meat (or vegetarian alternative) preparations, including open-flame grilled and stewed, fresh and roasted salsas alike, and popular main or side dishes such as tacos, refried beans, and Spanish-style rice.
  • Understanding of regional Mexican flavors, herbs, seasonings, and chiles, and their applications.
  • Must possess creativity to create new Mexican dishes with a Southwestern flair to create a dynamic menu for the restaurant that evolves and changes on a seasonal basis.
  • Develop and cultivate an environment of positivity and continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation.
  • Continually strive to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and professional development.
  • At least 2 years in an Executive Chef capacity.
