The Role In a Nutshell:
We are a relatively new meal prep delivery business with a focus on supporting responsible agriculture practices. We source from distributors that partner with local farms that use sustainable and regenerative practices.

We are looking to bring on a Chef Manager to lead a lean kitchen team through weekly meal production and plating/packaging. This role is perfect for a Sous Chef or Chef Manager who is interested in our business model, and who would be excited to build/manage a small kitchen team and take ownership of the quality and processes behind our food production.

Our weekly production cycle is between Wednesday and Sunday, with Wednesday being dedicated mostly to planning/printing/organization/inventory, and Thursday-Sunday being dedicated to prepping/cooking/plating/packaging.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically setting/planning new menus in advance. (To start, you will use recipes we have in house. You will eventually have the freedom to develop your own recipes.)
  • Lead meal production planning and execution, coordinate prep cooks' tasks (lead a team of 2-4 under you, to start, including a sous chef)
  • Manage purchase orders and local food shopping when needed (we have relationships with local purveyors that work with local organic farms
  • Manage/lead inventory and organization (food, smallwares, etc)
  • Ensure quality control across execution recipes
  • Manage recipe software & printing/planning (will have a dedicated admin assistant resource for weekly tasks)
  • Lead plating and packaging process alongside team
  • Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational and financial objectives.
  • Hiring and training kitchen staff, such as cooks, food preparation workers and dishwashers.
  • Performing administrative tasks.
  • Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff.

Role Details/Hours:

  • Schedule/Hours: This role is projected to be full-time, and our kitchen production hours are primarily Wed-Sun, morning hours (starting time ideally anywhere between 5-7am, going until no later than 1-3pm usually.
  • Production will be out of our shared commercial kitchen space in Springfield Township, NJ (off route 78). Proximity to our kitchen space should be considered.
