The burgeoning Fulton River District is home to The Dawson, an expansive, multi-level space providing a multitude of dining experiences under one roof.  The globally-inspired American cuisine highlights the season’s best offerings with a diverse array of ingredients and flavors on all brunch and dinners menus including items from a wood-fire grill that churns out a variety of different flavorful, meats and veggies.  Since inception, The Dawson has been known for its creative and culinary-driven cocktail program that specializes in libations with whimsical and drinkable touches.

The Dishwasher is responsible for the washing and sanitizing of all food service utensils and miscellaneous items such as plates, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, etc. They are also responsible for assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the back of house area. May have additional cleaning duties specific to the restaurant.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dish machine or by hand, following proper dishwashing sequence, according to restaurant specifications.
  • Maintain a pace sufficient to prevent back up of dirty dishes, glasses, etc.
  • Place clean dishes, utensils or cooking equipment in storage areas
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils, and ensure an orderly work environment
  • Sweep, mop, or scrub floors.
  • Remove trash and place it in designated pickup areas. Clean garbage cans with water or steam.
  • Transfer supplies or equipment between storage or work areas by hand or using hand trucks.
  • Identify cleaning supplies and their specific uses. Notify management when supplies are running low and need to be replaced.
  • Adhere to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures
  • Communicate cordially, effectively and clearly with all employees, managers, and guests.


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in responsibilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.
  • Accept direction and constructive criticism from management.
  • Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude every shift.
  • Must be willing to perform other duties assigned as needed.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous dishwashing or related experience desired.
  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as converse comfortably with guests.


This position operates in a restaurant setting. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required. Employees may frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Perform calmly and effectively in a very busy work environment.
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for the majority of a shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry sacks, boxes, product up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level, approximately 20 feet.
  • Must be able to reach (6” to overhead), bend, stoop, wipe.
