Flora Bar is the third restaurant from chef Ignacio Mattos. Inside the Met Breuer, a landmarked building in the Brutalist style, the restaurant caters to a wide range of guests, from those who want a simple bite after seeing the art to those who visit specifically to have a meal here. In 2016, Flora was named one of the city’s best new restaurants by the New York Times, and New York Magazine calls it the best restaurant on the Upper East Side. Flora Bar currently seeks a Maitre'd passionate for its style and cuisine who is able to balance the many demands of this dynamic position.
A successful candidate will be in tune to both the neighborhood and our place within it. This requires excellent service to each of our guests, prioritizing their experience and communicating clearly. A Maitre'd at Flora Bar must be adept at balancing guest experience, communication from our reservations team, and relaying information to our management team.

From the chef/owner of the critically-acclaimed restaurant estela in Nolita and Altro Paradiso in SoHo, comes Flora and Flora Coffee. Flora takes inspiration from lively, approachable restaurants in New York and Europe and is open beyond museum hours. The menu emphasizes seafood and vegetables and strives to be tasty and playful. You can stop in for a full dinner in the dining room, a small bite, or for a drink at the bar.
The Flora team aims to create an atmosphere of conviviality and adventure, similar to what they’ve cultivated downtown. The partnership with the museum came about from The Met’s desire to bring the estela team’s light and ethereal feel—and perhaps foremost its sensitivity to the setting and location of a space—to the iconic and impressive Breuer building.
